The last couple of FHS i have done been seperating the upstairs and downstairs.

A Typical job has 7-8 Rads, I cant see why you have to zone with this number of rads.

Whats you thoughts.

waste of time... all worth while if the zones are thermally isolated and the boiler can be down rated to the zone it is heating... not impossible but very expensive and not worth it on 8 radiators.

what is FHS?

I can't see the point of a two -three bed house having this set up. This is just a extra cost now and the future.

Also, today i installed a 40cdi in a pub/ hotel. there was 65radiators on the system and no zones. (Boiler only for ch - Water feed from andrews )
This complys with building regs as only a boiler change. look at the carbon footprint here.

Mixed views on this perosonally, but I have 8 zones in my house 8) It works well when you get to that extreme and the zones have a consistent pattern of use.

I thonk it goes by the size of the house. whether it's over 150sq/ft or not, I'm not sure exactly how big that is but I doubt a 2 bed would count.

whats the size of you house with 8zones. The floor area must be big and more than 3 bed.

you have to zone any new FHS or use programmable trvs.

 I am also trailing the EvoHome system from Honeywell so it is all done through wireless rad valves.

I agree with Alec that on a compensated system zoning is probably an irrelevance.

However, on a system that does not have a sliding set point (and the regular usage patterns I mentioned) then it does come into its own.
