Chagos Islands, a solution?

We bought and paid for the Islands as part of an independence deal.
UK paid Mauritius for separating the Chagos islands from Mauritius as part of UK agreeing to Mauritius' independence from UK.
They did so with the intention of building a military base on Diego Garcia.
And then evicted all the indigenous inhabitants from all the Chagos islands.

Chagos Islands are nowhere near Mauritius. It is a weird historical happenstance that Mauritius has ended up with them.
All part of the former French Indian overseas territory.
Mauritius used to be called Isle de France, and administered the Chago Islands.
All cede to Britain following the Napoleonic wars.
The current agreement transfers sovereignty back to Mauritius with a 99 year lease on Diego Garcia.
