Change cement colour

I have a stone fireplace with cement, how do i change the colour of the existing cement colout? Thank you

I would chip/grind, clean all the cement mortar out of the joint and then repoint with a lime mortar.

Mike Wye can send dried lime mortar samples in slightly different colours. Then you can re point that in. I’ve used them for the 19 years. I do like their buff lime mortar with bits of slate in.

If the stonework is early enough you might find lime mortar bedding the stones. Control the drying rate dampen down the blocks before using lime and don’t force it to dry early. When it’s still green you can rake back a bit and shape and brush off to smooth.
