Hi

I have been offered an almost brand new Valiant Boiler-Eco Tec 624. Is it worth getting this and swapping it with our Ideal Mini C28 combi boiler?

The Ideal is working fine (touch wood) but we are having some work done to our 3 bed, 1 bath detached house to add a shower room and bedroom in the loft and a kitchen extension with an extra rad in it.

Thanks

Your C28 is a combi!

Is the 624 really a combi???

Even if it were it would be a 24kW whereas your boiler is a 28 kW.

Fitting a system boiler and an unvented cylinder is a better system but quite a lot of extra cost which is not really not justifed by a 12% saving in gas consumption from a condensing boiler.

Thanks for your response.

I believe the 624 is a System Boiler, not a combi. Which would require the fitting of a cylinder. As I could get the 624 for free I was considering if it was worth the expense of having it and the cylinder fitted in place of our current combi to help with the DHW supply after adding the en-suite.

You could add a cylinder to your existing boiler!

Or more correctly, your CORGI registered installer, if he knows what he is doing, can fit an unvented cylinder if he is qualified!
