Yes the plastic bit is a splash guard and this needs to be removed before you get the bulb out, either a 20 or 30 torx bit, can`t quite remember now, and yes some have wires attached and some just have a spade connecter on the back of the bulb, but they are not bayonetted, they have a spring fitting, and this will need to be pushed in and moved to one side, then it will swivel upwards allowing you to remove the bulb, and don`t touch the glass of the new bulb as sweat or dirt from your fingers will cause a hotspot on the bulb and it will burn out quicker, by the way you only need to take the two torx screws going through the bumper out, then you should be able to pull the guard back and away enough to get your hand up in there.....hope it helps.....
