changing filling loop.

I would just like confirmation that when you have to change a filling loop is that you first need to drain the heating system down (boiler on the ground floor). Is this correct?.
 
If there is no pressure in system & auto air vent is turned off just straight swap with an old towel to collect a small amount of water
 
You can either drop pressure by opening a bleed screw and catching water, stick a hose on for minute then change no need to drain completly, screw cap down on auto air vent aswell. Obviously turning mains off first
