My brother lives in Italy. Whilst he speaks the lingo quite well, orders the beers and vino very impressively, he has problems dealing with his PC language the Windows language is in Italian (his wife)

He is not the greatest computer operator and trying to do changes like scheduling and other maintenance etc changes in a foreign language is difficult. He wants to do the changes as suggested in the thread computer slow on sart up!

I have been through the Control Panel "Regional and Language ...." followed all the instructions to add Italian to my PC (trial run) but when I click on Taskbar icon to change languages nothig changes. Before I go back to him with how to do it I would like to get my own to work.

As I understand it you should be able to flick between two languages with just a click.

Can anyone put me on the right road please.

Not quite the 'flick of a switch':

It can be done with some (not all) languages:

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/35a1b021-d96c-49a5-8d8f-5e9d64ab5ecc1033.mspx

Using this link you can download the setup:
http://www.microsoft.com/unlimitedpotential/programs/llp.mspx

Unfortunately, I could not find |Italian in the list

As Microsoft appear to do it for some languages and Windows Vista, perhaps you could contact Microsoft (English speaking) and check out whether they now cover Italian in this situation.

All LIPs and CLIPs are created by local Microsoft offices in collaboration with government leaders. If we do not currently offer the language you need, please contact your local Microsoft office or the government agency in your area.

Sorry it is not a definite solution but hope it gets you on the right track.
