My Pc was attacked by a virus last night, which was stopped and deleted (
according to Norton internet security), moments after it switched off and rebooted itself

On the desktop was an icon, program file I think which I deleted, and a bubble appears from the taskbar, saying your computer is infected by spyware, click here for a download to protect your computer

I have run a full antivirus scan and nothing has shown up, everything seems to be running normally - apart from the bubble appearing every minute

I am running XP

Any ideas would be gratefully received

It sounds like some Malware is trying to scam you into paying to remove some non-existant spyware.

Download the free version of Malwarebytes. The green button on the left is for the free version download.

Install and check for updates.

Then run a quick scan and let it remove everything it finds.

Many thanks Dave, thats got rid of it along with another bunch of interlopers

I owe you a pint
