Hi guys. I've pretty much finished sanding and filling my front door and it's basically ready now for painting, I'll just remove the brass furniture. I've bought a 1 litre can of Crown Fastflow Quick Dry Satin 'Peek a Boo' Blue as my chosen topcoat colour. It's described as a mid tone blue. The paint shop also had Crown Fastflow quick dry primer undercoat in either white or charcoal grey. I thought maybe white would work well but two people in the shop said charcoal grey would work better so I bought that. Crown actually suggests blue undercoat. The shop could have made some up for me but said it would be about double the price. The charcoal grey and the white off the shelf are only £11.
According to google, it says a charcoal grey undercoat will generally make a mid-tone blue appear darker richer and deeper. But I don't want to it to go darker, I like the shade of blue I've seen in photos of Peek a Boo blue paint, it's fairly light. Would I be better off taking it back and getting the white primer undercoat? Here's a picture of my mostly sanded and filled door in case it helps you determine if charcoal grey is the better choice or not. Thanks for any advice.
