Cheap bath screen- avoid?

Looking to install a screen and I'm amazed at the range of prices.
They seem to start at about £50 (or sometimes less), going up to about £150, and then there's a massive leap to about £400. They all look the same to me!
Obviously I want to end up with something that is fit for purpose.
Any reason, other than snobbery, to avoid the £50 ones?

All of the items should be using safety glass (I think that's madatory), but the thickness of glass used may vary.

Normally the expensive items will be using 8mm glass - and hence they can easily be frameless or semi-frameless. The thinner glass models tend to flap in the breeze a little. You also might find that the very cheap model require you to use more silicone etc.

That's not to say the more you spend the better function. There are some very expensive, clever folding frameless options which are more likely to leak a little bit than a single fixed 4mm panel!

Some of the cheaper screens are hard to keep clean, the glass seems to be slightly more abrasive and gets scaled up much quicker. Go for the best one you can afford and get one that uses a wall post, not one where the rubber seal touches the tiles. Also avoid the fold-up type.

thanks for the replies. Definitely want to keep this simple (no split/ bi-fold etc).
Ebay is full of this sort of thing- seems worth a punt... or not?

One thing that requires serious consideration - and does not seem to be mentioned in that listing's description - tolerance.

No wall is exactly 90° to the lip of the bath. The frame/half-frame should have a certain amount of tolerance to compensate for this.

i bought a coram one from plumbase for about 80 quid and it was pretty nice, coram is a name i trust, i wouldn't buy many things from ebay, a shower screen is one of them
