Cheesed when customers provide own materials?

Just curious really but do you tradesmen get cheesed off when your customers provide their own materials for the job?

Do they really save you time by providing their own or do you lose money by not providing your own?

The problem is that the customer normally provides DIY Materials which are of a lower quality than Trade Materials, (they think they are saving money) .

I always point out that the quality of the finished job will not be the same as trade materials and that I accept no responsibility for the materials used.

As Bosswhite says really.

Its a pain in the butt if you get call backs for a problem that is caused by a customer buying cheap stuff, It can cause problems with guarantees as well.

We will usually know the products we are using and use them for reasons such as good quality, Good customer service from the supplier etc.

Never had customer buy the correct materials as they don't have the expertise to make the right choice and some problems call for a variety of materials to be available of which only one will eventually be used.
Example, 'I have bought this threshold strip for my new laminate floor can you fix it down' .'Well madam thats for carpet and you have laminate'. I check out the floor and find it needs a extra wide threshold so have to make a second visit with one I made up from a strip of hardwood.
So no matter what she had purchased it would have been wrong.
