Hi, please help me.

In my kitchen which I painted about 4 years ago, there has been progressive amounts of spots appearing in isolated areas. The spots flare up at about 5mm spacings and are a 1.5mm in diameter. I can best describe them as being similar to Braille.

they cause the plaster to become loose if I try to scratch them off.

there is a hairline crack in the rendered external wall but the odd thing is that there are no water marks/yellowing on the internal wall where the spots are.

could it be because it is a chimney stack?

I painted the wall with ultra durable/wipe-able matt emulsion... could a lack of porosity be a cos?

any thoughts would be glad received... thanks

It does sound like moisture trying to escape.

Did you prime the walls with dilute emulsion first?

Is the chimney stack vented? If not can you fit a vent below the units, if difficult then just drill a series of holes to allow airflow

Often people brick up fireplaces but dont allow for venting.
