Hi all,

How do I lift chipboard flooring that has been nailed with 3 inch nails every 6 inches. Many thanks

You have the locking tongue and grove to deal with. Run saw down.
Grind heads off and lever up but I think you're going to struggle and maybe damage board too much.

I didn't think it can be done because of damage

Hi, thanks for your reply. I think you are probably correct about the damage, hence my post!

Set circular saw to board depth and run it thru length a few times. Pry up ,nails should be easy to remove once exposed.

Depends how much damage you want to do. Are you taking them up to reuse? What goes over? When you're done? (If laminate you can be less careful

Claw bar (like a mini crow bar) hammered under the nail head to lift, then the short end to pull out

Or grind the head off and use a punch to drive the remaining shaft down through the board. Oval heads nails just drive them through

Or use a hole saw of sufficient diameter that you can drill down next to the nail and leave a small circle of wood nailed down when you lift most the board off

If the joints have been glued, or the boards glued to the joists, you may be in for a tough time. Otherwise do two runs of boards either side of the non staggered joint and lift them like a bifolding door folds

Hi,
I wanted to reuse the boards. My plan was to lift the boards, put insulation in and put new lvt down. I think its a step too far. I dont have the time to lift 70m2 of flooring, fit netting, insulation, reboard, lay flooring, move furniture and not fall out with my wife !

If the void under is deep enough to be worth insulating but not deep enough to crawl round, perhaps consider blowing polystyrene beads in?
