When using chrome compression fittings on chrome pipe o you need to remove the chrome from the pipe were the olive will set? I guess using copper olives will be better than brass?
In my expirirnce no need to remove the chrome, unless your using push fit or soldering. Compression will go straight on. I always prefer copper olives but not essential by any means

I'd always remove chrome plate when soldering, especially when using normal WRAS approved solder. I believe it needs a specialist flux for soft soldering chrome (strong acid based as used for stainless) that I don't think is approved for potable water due to it's content.
