Hello group, I need to reduce the shower riser pictured by 17 inches, can anyone advise. I thought it would be a case of cut the pipe and re-thread the end, however I took it to various places today, they told me the thread is not BSP and I would struggle to get it done, another place told me he could silver solder it.I tried to get a 22mm olive on it but the olive is
too small, any advice appreciated.
Thanks group

Yup, you could get it brazed, good old oxy/acetylene and some brass brazing rods. What's the diameter of the pipe?

I suspect that brazing would ruin the chrome, so you'd then need to get it re-plated, which will be expensive

Any good lathe operator ought to be able to measure the thread and re-create it for you further down

Thanks for the advice group, I'm visiting a local blacksmith tomorrow who says he should be able to braze it. let you know how I get on

You need to find someone with a large set of dies. It may not be a plumber's size, but it is probably still a standard size of some kind.
