Probably scared to touch them.
I haven't worked on one for couple of years and can't remember the safety issues with them off the top of my head, but remember I struggled to get the emissions within tolerance without replacing a seal every time I was inside one.

I think a lot of the issues were due to the design of the flue these things could virtually be located anywhere in the building. Thus the exhaust and inlet were routed internal to the building and potentially boxed in and non visible with catastrophic results and also people not changing the seals.
I was more than impressed with the performance of the thing, especially after giving it a nice dose of x800 and a temporary install of a TF1. However it has now gone to the great powermax grave and replaced with a 831 with VRC 470. Going to be interesting how much gas is saved?

That seems to be a well corroded ignition electrode.
As far as I am aware these are probably still available and could have been replaced!
But they have been a rather unreliable boiler quite apart from being an engineer's nightmare!

There was a brand new one hanging around in there but had stripped the boiler down for removal gave the option to bring back into service but they opted to go ahead with the new boiler.
Most people are pretty fed up with living with powermax's now.
In a sadistic way i enjoy doing a full strip down service of one, baffle fishing is good game.
