Ordered some cast cills and they have come
With a 40mm plinth to seat the window in

Should of been 65mm, double glazing chap
Seems to think it will be ok to place the window
Back 25mm onto the cavity closer.
I'm not keen on this and was thinking
Of doing a 25mm strip of mortar in front
For the window to sit on.
Thoughts please?

If locating the widow centrally on the plinth means the window will sit partially over the cavity, then so be it.

Not many people are aware that this is actually the preferred method as it prevents cold bridging from the external masonry.

Just make sure that your cav closers are in place and well fixed before window installation.

You learn something new every day on this site - I didn't even know there was such a thing as a 'cavity closer'! (I do know that my house doesn't have any, though, now)
