following my thread yesterday. went to sis in laws no heating . found out pump not working she said she had hot water, this morning she told me that she aint got water now ! this may sound silly but would the defective pump stop the boiler fireing ? or have i got to get my thinking cap on again or alternatley get corgi in :mad: thank you

It depends on the pipework. If gravity hot water with pumped heating, then you'll still get hot water if the pump stops.
If both hot water & c.h. are pumped circuits and the pump is stopped, then the boiler will start, but quickly go out because it overheats. You might get a very little warm water in the tank, that's all.
Since you know the pump's shot, you'd best fix that first.
 
Well maybe it's getting up to temp, so stopping before it gets to the next level up, being 'overheat light comes on'.
Go on, down the shop - get a new pump and stick it in!!
