Are you referring to your toilet cistern 
If so it sounds like your float valve needs adjusting or renewing.
When you flush float should drop to the bottom of cistern, check if there is any obstruction or if it is sticking to the side.
If free try adjusting the screw so that the water level cuts off at the manufacturers level line.
Failing that renew your float valve and water inlet pipe completely
