Hi all... please can anyone help... when i put my heating on the radiators heat up as normal, in fact very hot. The problem lies with my cistern tank, for some reason the water doesnt heat up, i put the heating on for over 2 hours and it only just covers one shower in the morning.
Also i noticed when looking at the boiler alot of black soot type stain on the front of the boiler where the flame goes into the boiler and actually part of it is flaking the blue paint off the boiler and is very hot to touch

Any ideas anyone

Turn the boiler off now!!!! black soot is a danger sign of very inefficient combustion (burning of gas). It means there is a high risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and death!!!!!! call out a gas safe registered person and tell them what is happening with your boiler, BUT TURN IT OFF FIRST.!!!!!

Hi thanks for the reply... is this the case as its an oil burner not gas as such...thanks

ok ive got an oil bloke who services our boiler coming tomorrow. Is there anything i should say to him when he is here or just let him work away.

Also have you any ideas why it take the water ages to heat up in the cistern tank when the oil heating has been on for ages :)

A magnet will attract to any blockages in the pipework due to the sediment being magnetic
