Hi

Overnight it seems our cistern in the downstairs toilet wont stop filling up. I did a little Googling and it seems we have a Torbeck Adjustable Height Valve Bottom Entry. When I move the little cylinder part up the flow of water is reduced somewhat but it still flows enough to overfill resulting in a constant hissing noise as the water runs through.

Just really hoping one of you fine experts out there might be able to advise me of the next steps to fix this?

In possibly related news, our boiler sprung a leak the other day, the seal in the boiler for the water corroded. We have British Gas Homecare cover so they came out and fixed that, so this could be a bit of a coincidence that this issue happened the very next night?

Thanks.

Probably just the diaphragm split/faulty in the valve.
ever change diaphragm or buy new one and just change the top half above the adjusting nut.

Replace the diaphragm washer or change the valve. I don't suggest you try and relate your boiler repair to the toilet valve - it's like saying you had your tap repaired and your car broke down!!

Replace it. They're like four quid and it's easier to replace than diagnose and fix a faulty one.

And no, nothing to do with the boiler.

Thanks all, I'm hoping the replacement one I buy comes with foolproof instructions on how to fit it, a DIY expert I am not!

I didn't think the boiler issue was related but we had a run of 'breakdowns', big power cut followed an hour later by the boiler leaking followed a day later by the constantly filling cistern.
