Have had a look inside the cistern and there is no ball cock, which is the only design of cistern mechanism I've seen before.

The toilet flushes from buttons on the top and there's no problems there. The tap that fills the cistern doesn't stop flowing and no amount of fiddling seems to fix the problem.

Does anybody have any idea of what type of cistern mechanism is within the toilet and how to fix the problem?

Thanks.

The diaphragms more likely failed in the fill valve.
give us a pic then we can id the model of fill valve. ;)

Looks like a wisa valve but can't locate exact model.

You can always fit another complete valve ie fluidmaster etc
for what they cost from bq/screwfix. ;)
