Hi,
Citreon xsara picasso 2.0 hdi diesel desire - 2005 - 90,680 miles
I have had problems for about 2-3 months where the car cuts out, this can be whilst it is stood in idle mode or when it is driving at up to 60 mph. There is no warning and no apparent loss of power - it just comes to a total stop with the battery and oil light coming on, just like when a car stalls. Then it has to stand for a few minutes before it will start again, once it does start the engine fault light shows. It was initially diagnosed as an EGR valve fault, this was replaced and less than 24 he's later same problem. EGR valve was changed again, also the solenoid valve had been damaged so that was also replaced, then whilst garage had car following the test drive after repairs it would not start. The garage took it to a Bosch garage for diagnostics resetting of its parameters. They said it had high air pressure and replaced the air flow meter sensor at over £220. Less than 4 hours after getting it back when it had been parked it would not start, went back to garage. They diagnosed a fault with the air pressure and said that the inlet and outlet air hoses on the engine were loose, these were tightened at a cost of £72 this time. 24 hrs later same problem only back to cutting out. Went back again, this time they said fuel pump was no good, they had it for 10 days, insisted only original citreon part would fit and charged £317. It had only gone less than 20 miles and from cold it would not start again! Went back to garage for diagnosis again, said its parameters were not right, air pressure in engine too high, fuel pressure too low - all the original faults. They now saying final piece of puzzle which hasn't been replaced is the fuel regulator valve which will cost approx £217. I am reaching the end of my tether the original fault was quoted at £166 and it cost £800 so far and I'm back at square one. I am terrified when driving it cos it just loses everything power, so steering and brakes. I have lost all faith in the Bosch garage it has been at, they don't seem to have any ideas what wrong with it, they clutching at straws and I don't even get the courtesy of a call to tell me what wrong and how much it going to cost, this information is given when I collect it and work has been done so I have no say in matter! If anyone can offer any suggestions I would be very grateful.
