Citroen Xsara Steering

Hi there,

I bought a V reg Citroen Xsara 18i recently and I'm really pleased with it, except that when driving at really low speeds (parking, manouevring, taking very tight bends) the steering gets really, really tight and then will suddenly release.

This makes it really hard to judge and manouevre. I was thinking of taking it to a garage to get the power steering fluid checked - can anyone suggest other reasons?

Check the knuckles/joints on the steering column,if one is loose or worn it will give you this effect.

Many thanks. If I get a hynes manual is this something I could myself?

don't see why not,anyway a manual is always handy and will give a guide to what you are trying to do and what you will need.
