Cladding of poor condition wall

Hi all.

We have been recommended to overclad a poor condition brick work wall with coated steel cladding. Half millimeter thick if I recall correctly. The wall it self is a unsightly mismatch of standard brick, painted block work, visible lintels (commercial so no-one cared about aesthetics) and could do with some repointing in places but is structurally sound. There is some green moss growing in places where the gutter has leaked and some vegetation to remove.

The bit I don't understand is whether the wall should the wall be treated or sealed before cladding or is it OK just to clad and hide the mess and forget?

Brush the algae off and wash that area with a biocidal wash, and then you can just clad it.

You might need planning and building regs approval
