Hi all,
Has anyone ever successfully "clamped" blue plastic mdpe supply pipe to stop the water flow before ?

If so, what tool did you use and where can I get one?

Thanks in advance for your help

Pete

NO, but you do realise that this is likely to damage the pipe?

MOle grips comes to mind.
Or hire a freez tool.

Yes I have a squasher bought at Drainage centre for about £15. It consists of two u bolts two steel bars about 1" diameter and a garrott. imagine two bars squashing a pipe. Go until water squeels don't go much further i.e. don't necessarily go for total shut off just shut down to workable amount of water. Then mark the pipe where you squashed it so next time you will squash it a little away from that point. Can also squash Alcathene but it is more prone to fracture and most definately can only be squashed once in one place.

On the whole it is a procedure of last resort but I haven't had any problems doing it.

If you're doing an outside repair, just snip the pipe in half and fit a stopcock.

Do it underwater and you won't get wet.

Open the stopcock before you try to fit it, do the nuts up, not forgetting the insert, then turn the valve off and connect the other side.

And make sure you you fit it the right way round.
