Out of shame for Israel's perfidious actions in Palestine, no doubt.
The composer, born in Morocco, lived and worked in Paris, wrote it in remembrance of the Holocaust in the late 1970's for his French/Jewish choir, in Paris.
He only moved to Israel in his later life, a year before he died in 2018.

Ennio Morricone used the choir's recording of Gam Gam in the Holocaust film 'Jonah who lived in the Whale'.

Ennio Morricone wasn't Jewish, but was heavily influenced with jewish culture and provided music for several Holocaust films.

I think it's silly to conflate the current genocidal actions by Israel with music, the work of musicians who are long gone, or the Holocaust.

Many things relating to the ongoing genocide in Palestine are removed on the flimsiest pretext these days. Some folk can't take the truth of their misplaced allegiance to a corrupt regime.
