Morning all

My garden is sloping and quite long. I have leveled the bottom area (roughly 20ft x 20ft) which is all heavy clay soil.

I am going to be building some steps down from the sloping section, a patio area (slightly raised) and the rest will be gravel.

The main thing I am thinking about is drainage. As the soil is heavy clay it is difficult to ensure a level sloping area and although I have got it relatively level. When I say clay I mean you could make pots out of this stuff!

My idea was to get some small hardcore and a whacker plate and use this to create a gentle level slope then construct everything on top of there. Does that sound sensible or am I just making things really complex?

Thanks
