We are getting quotes for replacing our roof at the front (covers the front of what was 4 small terrace houses), and a large dormer at the back, new clay tiles, as the current clay tiles have perished (they were reclaimed). Getting hugely variable quotes - 12K-30K. We're trying to understand the difference, and one thing that has been raised is the quality of clay tiles. Are they all the same - or does more expensive mean something. Does anyone have any hard facts on this - as my dad really wants to go for the cheapest, and another roofer has told us that amount would only just cover the cost of his materials. My dad thinks all clay tiles are the same - is that so?? Any advice greatly received - esp if backed up with facts!
All doing same work - removing old roof, new breather , new battens, new tiles, replacing fascias. Cannot see physical difference in quote
