I have a metal ceramic hob with a metal surround. I'm not sure what the metal is, maybe stainless steel

I recently cleaned the metal surround with 'Cillit Bang power cleaner grime and lime' spray.

I left a particularly bad stain on the metal 'to soak' in the product. I returned some hours later & when I rinsed the product off I discovered that it had left a white discolouration of the metal, which I am finding hard, nay, impossible, to remove. Do you know of anyway (or any products) to treat this discolouration before my partner gets back from holiday, i'm feeling pretty nervous and i can't think of a good reason as to why i did such a thing!!!

Thanks

and yes, I should read the instructions first and test it on an inconspicuous spot before cleaning.....

Be very careful using abrasives on stainless steel - i.e. don't

There are hundreds of finishes, all brushed , all different.

You will end up with a different finish to the rest of the unit. It is a chmical cleaner and suggest you ask the maker what you should use to remove it - it may be that it has changed the steel structure and can't be removed.

i heard wirewool made s/s prone to rust! any one else heard this? i do know my estwing went rusty after it came into contact with the wire wool in the tool box.
