I've been asked to help clean, and then seal, an area of about 5 sq m of Victorian quarry tiles on a hall floor (black, yellow, red, etc). Haven't seen them yet, but I've been told they just look a bit grotty and grimy.

I am inclined to try sugar soap and a scrubbing brush first, perhaps white spirit for any really grubby bits.

Anyone know of a better product for getting them as clean as possible?

Also, what is best to seal them with (semi-gloss finish preferred)?

Many thanks in advance.

yes there are lots of better products. Have a look at the ranges from lithofin, ltp, fila or HG.

You'll need some kind of intensive remover, and if they have any tar\grease on them you may need something else.

They all do sealers which will enrich the colour and protect them, but you may struggle to add any kind of satin finish to them
