resprayed the bumper with metallic paint. finished of with two coats of clear lacquer. I thought the lacquer dried to a shine. mine dried to a dull finish. anybody know where or what has gone wrong. any advice would be most welcome. thanks in advance.

Two points come to mind.....
1) Too much moisture in the air
2) The surface of the bumper being too hot when sprayed.

I’m no bodywork painter but I’d try another lacquer coat with the bumper in the shade and see what happens. Nothing to lose really!

also,
(I am learning this as I go along with a project)
depending on the base coat, you either have to flash off the base and wait a short time, or an extended time when using the clear coat.
They can off gas so it can be 5-15 mins or 24-48 hours

Again, with clear coat, you have to wait a short while between coats, allowing just enough time that the previous is tacky (5 mins or so) and apply another to wet down the first
Painters often spray a small bit of card/plastic/metal as a test patch. They can touch that and not worry about marks. When it is ready, they spray the actual work
