Have a combi boiler in my flat. For the last year or two, have been experiencing loud clicking noise in our bedroom from our radiator, which is worst affected. It’s worse when you start the heating for the first hour or so.

The pipes are exposed, so not covered by floor boards. Is there a quick fix to this, that I can do for myself, or do I need to get the Pros involved?

Hi

Expansion of the pipe rubbing against wood is one cause. Another cause could be the TRV . Also the radiator may be loose on the brackets.

Are all the plastic inserts between the radiator and it's brackets fitted?

They are put there so the radiator moves smoothly on the brackets as it expands. Without them, you get all sorts of pops and bangs from the metal on metal contact.
