I know this is a funny time to be thinking about this after that long cold winter, but one of our radiators repeatedly clicks when the heating has just come on. I heard that you can put some kind of thing between the radiator and the wall bracket which stops the noise as the metal expands.

Is that right?

If so, where can they be bought?

Does it mean disconnecting your radiator to fit them?

Thanks

The clicking noise may very well be coming from the pipwork / tails to the rad. The pipe is probably tight to the floor board / joist.

If its not pipework against the floor then it may be that the bracket insulating pieces are missing(?never fitted)
They can be obtained from plumbers merchants but will require the rad to be removed in order to fit them.

Agree. A regular tinny clicking noise during heat up is usually the plastic spacers missing from the brackets where they come into contact with the rads.

Try contacting Stelrad or Quinn, pretending that you have some of their rads, and the clips are now broken. They may send you some. ;)
