... climate change protestors will achieve nothing.

    [/QUOTE]

Not sure about that. About 300 arrests so far to help the already stretched police service. Stop the tubes running, the ones that are the eco friendly way to get around the big cities. I'd stop their dole money. They should be out looking for work!

You think that we can just stick whatever completely irrelevant comment into whatever thread we like?

I think sammyinnit and ihavenojob are trying their hardest to demonstrate they are unaware of the topic in this thread by posting totally unrelated comments into whatever thread takes their fancy.
Some other posters think it's funny, by adding their own independent comments, to twist the thread onto a totally unconnected topic, without thought for the OP, or his desire to discuss something sensible.

  3. You could have just said "I don't understand the joke".

I didn't think it was a joke, it certainly wasn't funny.
It was purely and simply more abuse.
    Abusiveness is not funny.

  5. Humour is subjective. Your inability to understand it or find it funny is up to you and no one else.

Offensive is taken and not given. If you found it offensive or abusive it is up to you and no one else.

Please stop the moral grandstanding, it's not like anyone is remotely interested.

Some of these activists should be classed as terrorists.
Their actions are causing distress and disruption to the General public.

If people who should be aware of what they are saying will cause offence, but they say it anyway, they are being intentionally offensive, hoping to cause offence to those that they dislike, disagree with or otherwise hope to ridicule.
That was, without doubt the intention behind ihavnojob's post, you thought it was funny for ihavenojob to intentionally ridicule someone he disagrees with. That isn't humour that is abuse, but you find it funny.
It demonstrates that ihavnojob has no intelligent reasoning, merely abuse, and you find that funny.

  8. If it were to do with religion my guess is they would be however we all know climate change is an issue.

I'm glad someone is taking it seriously but I'm not sure the way they're doing it is going to realistically achieve much in the short term beyond making already difficult life more so for people who live and work around the protests.

Yawn - that old ignorant trope.
All the people I know who's involved in this are working, either employed or self-employed, and have taken unpaid time off to take part - How about the people you've spoken to who are involved in this?

Yes of course, absolutely, along with the suffragettes, Dr Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, etc etc.

The difficulty here is that the distress and disruption which we know will be caused to the general public if we don't take more urgent steps now to stop the climate breaking down will make London this week look like sweet and gently ordered existence

If protesters want to distance themselves from 'that old trope', perhaps they should dress smartly and not be seen dancing in the street.

I dont see it as an old trope anyway, there are 'professional' protester on all of these environmental issues, they go from one protest to another.

It doesnt help their cause when they don't apologise or seem to care when it is pointed out that their protest means that there are people who are stopped from working and therefore will lose wages as a result.

It was in response to a question about what a certain person knows, saying the person in the picture is regarded as being not very bright. your response has highlighted the fact that there are some people dumber.
