Closeboard Fencing - Overlap

Is there any value in reducing the spacing of the feather edge from 75mm to 65mm or less?
I have a fence to install and just thought that a greater overlap would be stronger and more resistant to next doors hedge growing through.

How wide are the featheredge boards? I usually overlap by about 25-30mm. You can go more if you like but certainly no less. If it looks alright, it's alright. The hedge will likely do what it wants regardless of spacing. ASk your neighbour to keep the hedge trimmed back from the fence, offer to do so yourself if you can reach it from your side.
