closed board fencing nail size

Hi,

I am going to replace the rotten arris rails on my closed board fencing. What size/type of nails should I use to attach the arris repair brackets to the arris rails and what size nails for the feather boards.

I have quite a few to do so is it practical/economical to hire a nail gun.
