hi, should a 50mm cavity be closed at the top (eaves) or should be left open for ventilation?

Insulation should run continuous with the roof insulation

Firesock should be put in the top of the cavity, also up the gable ends with the roof pitch

cavities are no longer closed at eaves.

as woodster has said continue the cavity insulation so that it meets the loft insulation forming a wrap at eaves detail.
