After the rewire, I noticed that the new lightswitch in bedroom 3 tilts slightly. This looks bad as it sits only 4 inches from the vertical door arcitrave.

Any tricks for ficing this?

1) Loosen screws
2) Adjust until level
3) Re-tighten screws

the box lugs may have a little adjustment and therefore you may just be able to loosen the plate and line it up

if not then you'd have to remove and re-fit the box which would be a lot of work for a tiny asthetic improvement.

But it would be useful penance, and a valuable lesson to learn the importance of doing it right next time....

Has the room been redecorated? If yes, will be more difficult to move it and make the wall look good. If no, and just a plaster depth box, you could cut out a sliver of plaster round the box, unscrew and tilt the box, rescrew and fill. No need to go chiselling out a big hole and the switchplate may hide the repair.

It will annoy you for the rest of your life until fixed.
