Coin-meter earth?

I have a coin-meter fitted before the consumer unit in my granny annexe, the electric feed is from the my main property, my question is, the coin-meter is of a hamerite paint kind of finish on what I presume to be metal or cast (definitely metal), should this be earthed as it is not and there is no allowance anywhere to take an earth on the unit, only live/ neutral supply in and out (is this common)? If this should be earthed to the local earth block how could this be made to the coin-meter?

Found someone selling one othe same on ebay! I have asked the same question to the seller regarding the earthing!
