I have a large house and many rads. The two large rads in the lounge work only if the thermostat is turned way up and the pump is consequently working for several hours.

The system has recently been power flushed and the plumber eventually got the rads to work but since he left, they are both cold most of the time.

The boiler is around 20 years old but in good shape with regular maintenance etc. The pump was replaced when the power flush was done about a month ago.

The rads are downstairs. The upstairs rads are turned down and the taps restricted to try to force water downstairs.

Is there a way to have a bigger pump installed that would increase the pressure and hopefully make the rads work?
If so, would this cause problems elsewhere in the system?

Could the problem be the boiler that is now too old and inefficient to cope?

I am thinking of having underfloor heating instead of the rads but obviously don't want to go the expense of this if the hot water cannot get to the furthest reaches of the system.

If I need a specialist to look at the system - any suggestions?

Thanks from a DIY muppet.

Are these 2 rads supplied via microbore by any chance? :(
