hello, my house has a conventional open vent system. whenever the heating is on, the cold tap in the bathroom (which is fed from the storage tank in the loft) comes out hot. any ideas what this could be?

cheers, Rich

ah so its just the heat from one pipe transferring to the cold supply? smart move! anyway thanks for the advice

Seco is probably right, but if it doesn't run cold after running off some water, there may be other problems causing the heating system to heat the cold storage cistern.

Plastic cisterns aren't designed to handle hot water!
