We have two large(500l) cold water tanks with ball operated float valves that have started leaking due to ball valve not shutting off completely. Valves are about 6 years old.
Rather then just replace them or some washer I was wondering if there were any alternatives that are more reliable and/or quieter. E.g. for our toilets I recently replaced some with valves from B&Q that fill very quietly and shut off very quickly when full. Is there anything similar that can be used in a cold water tank ?
The supply pipes are 22mm so I think the current valves are 3/4. They are brass and side inlet with plastic balls. The tanks are interconnected.
Another consideration is to have a high fill rate as the tanks feed a large bath and power shower so if both are run the water flow rate can be quite high. I believe at the time the tanks were installed plumber said the valves were high flow rate, although he was a bit dodgy to be honest.
