what exactly do you mean by "hazardous"?
impression i get is you will need explosion proof enclosures and glanding, but fail to see why you would want lathes, millers, heaters etc in this kind of environment?

yes i know it makes no sense at all but got to plan it out will need explosion proof enclosures but what type of mcb's do u use in this environment

I'm not saying such a thing doesn't exist, but I have never come across or had need to purchase an explosion proof distribution board, and I regularly work in hazardous areas. This sort of thing is normally located outside of the hazardous zones.

If this really is what you have been instructed to do then it sounds as if your tutor is clueless. Either that or you have misinterpreted him. Hazardous area work is a specialist subject and is not something covered in any depth by the 17th regs, so unless you have had Compex training it would be crazy to expect you to spec up such an install. You would also need to know the size, location and classification on the zones, type of combustible chemicals present, temperature classes, etc.

Not to mention that you'd struggle to find an atex compliant lathe - they generate sparks and hot swarf by their very nature.
