I'm considering having a combi boiler in the loft.
How do I protect it against frost during the winter please

Insulate all water pipes to/from and if the boiler doesn't have one fit a frost stat and maybe a pipe stat depending on circumstances

Check manufactures instructions some boilers come with frost stats.

Just make sure that there is a suitable access via loft ladder, that there is proper floor in attic, permanent light fitting by boiler and that there is a barrier around loft hatch incase some one falls out of the attic.

Oh, you will need electricity for the boiler, and the condensate pipe needs a suitable drain point.

Most decent makes have a 2 stage frost stat built in.

Avoid any Ideal boiler at all costs, they don't have one, but the chances are they will have broken down before you need the frost stat

Mmmmm..Re:

If possible, site the boiler so that it is not above any bedrooms. When the pre-heat (warm start) kicks in during the night, it can be quite noisy and will probably wake you up for a week or so. You do get used to it though.
