We have a 2 year old combi boiler (Gloworm). Today we had a plumber in to sort out a couple of dripping taps. Since their repair, after we have turned on the cold tap the boiler makes a noise as though it is going to fire up. It doesn't actually light though. The noise lasts a few seconds only. I am wondering if it's something do with the water pressure as the only thing that the plumber did that might have affected the boiler was to turn off the water at the stopcock. The boiler is under a five year warranty so not sure whether
er to use that, or to contact the plumber?
Any advice gratefully received.

More than likely nothing to do with the Plumber, you need to get someone to check your boiler install.

Back flow pressure on mains tripping flow switch on boiler

Good Plumber will sort it

Sounds like you have a dead leg somewhere, that's a run of pipe that goes nowhere. Air in a dead leg will do exactly as you describe. Turning the water off then presumably doing some work has let some air in. Have you run all the taps in the house to bleed them?

I would at least go round and run every tap one at a time. If any splutter first then there was some air in there and hopefully that was the problem. If it is still doing it after doing each tap then it could well be a dead leg from a previous layout that has been modified and ideally needs finding and removing.
