Hi all
having a problem with an "Alpha CB28" combi boiler. Central heating is fine and so is, most of the time, the hot water.
But, every so often, it seems not to sense that we're trying to draw hot water and won't fire the burner (not sure of terminology here, of course).
If you can see this picture;
what happens is that the lamp "B" will flash every few seconds but not illuminate. If I turn the "Selector" knob to its right, to "reset" and let go then most often you'll hear the burner igniting and the lamp "B" will come on and stay lit. After a few seconds we'll get hot water and lamp "B" will stay on until a few minutes after the hot tap is turned off.
Pressure when cold is around 1.2 and there are no obvious airlocks in the radiators (not that I know whether that affects the water). Never any problems with heating not coming on when expected.
We had a plumber in to fix the shower a few weeks ago and when we asked him he simply said "it will need a new boiler".
The fact that it works most of the time, and that a reset will kick the hot water into life, makes me suspect that it's repairable (by a heating engineer, not by me).
Any thoughts?
Many thanks
Scott
