Hi,
I have a Wickes Combi 30/90 which is a Sime Combi Halstead.
When the central heating is on the Rads. get hotter and hotter, the boiler switches off but lights up all most immediately it continues out of control untill I switch it off.I have no room stats just the control on the boiler which does not work any more. Is the printed curcuit at fault or the thermostats within the boiler.can you help.

Regards,
Norm.

Try ch thermistor first then you're probs looking at a pcb. Hard to say on here cos I cant see the boiler, I have no MI for this and theres not that many of these boilers about.
Contact HALSTEAD or SIME and ask them for Maunfacturers Instructions which usually have schematic wiring diagrams, fault finding and other info

I dont understand why you are confusing Sime boilers with Halstead.

Wickes sell Halstead boilers and I think that Sime would be upset if you accuse them of being involved wioth a faulty boiler which they do not make!

Since you dont even seem to know which make of boiler you have, I think that it is verging on the irresponsible for anyone here to suggest that you look at components in the boiler which may be faulty.

I strongly suggest you call Halstead and ask for the number of their local service agent.

Thanks Slugbaby it was the ch thermistor, fixed it.
the boiler is known as Sime Halstead Combi. Its a mixture of Sime and Halstead parts.
Many thanks,
Norm.

Well I do have to say that its new to me. It appears to be called a Halstead Trio Sime.

I presume that it was a Halstead badged Sime boiler.

Most of the Italian made boilers ( including the potterton performa range ) are made from a selection of fairly standard italian components. None are specifically Halstead, Sime or any other boiler makers own parts but a range of perfectly good parts which the manufacturers use in their boilers.

The NTC temperature sensors are pretty reliable but as they are subjected to severe thermal cycling once in a while they will go open circuit. Easy to diagnose and easy to change.

The Halstead trio was joint venture between Halstead and Sime.
The boiler is about 8 years old.
Your problem could be the thermister(dont usually go faulty)
The PCB.
Or a badly adjusted gas valve(not modulating)
If your not CORGI regestered you shouln't do anything with the gas valve.
