Combi - to replace - or not, and what with?

An unvented cylinder will provide hot water at mains pressure.
Genius..
I do apologise bamber, but the op stated
We like the shower performance of the mains pressure hot water from the combi

from which it appears that he didn't know that unvented cylinders provide the same output.

Thak you again for your understanding

**** :o

It's true - I didn't know

Trouble is, I went to a combi to free up space for a loft conversion - so the cylinder and water tank are gone now.

The guy (CORGI) who services my boiler reckons he has had installed a Combi that will run his 3 showers quite happily...

Fine, go around to his house ask him to turn them all on at once and witness the miracle, I will tell you now it won`t happen, ask him. how hard is that? if he is confident he will happily demonstrate.

He is a liar. take a plumber with you, bet it`s not a combi.

Are you this agressive in real life? - or just on the forums

But yes, I agree it probably is worth checking exactly what he has installed... - If I need to run 3 showers simultaneously... Which i don't

I would suggest a system boiler with an unvented cylinder, if you don't have the space then the Vaillant ecoTEC+ 937 is a very good boiler.

Both options require at least 20 litres per minute incoming mains, IIRC the pressure has to be about at least 3.5 bar too.

We didn't have the space for an unvented cylinder so we have the 937 boiler, very impressive hot water performance and very quiet in operation.

Looks like we'll probably be going with a 937 - my local plumbing specialists will match the internet price to within £30 once delivery is taken into account

Will be nice to get it all properly sorted at last 8)

Also assess the W-Bosch floor mounted 550. The Ethos 54C and Atag Q 51kW

All high flow combis which outperform the 937.

A high flow combi will do three showers at once. The Ethos 54C will pour out around 24 litres /min. So that is three decent showers all at once. Two really excellent showers at once. It will deliver around 700 litres in 30 minutes and never run out of hot water.

Combis have to be installed properly. Have a 22mm dedicated cold feed from the mains stoptap and full bore stoptap. Reduce flow on all other appliances, hot and cold. A toilet does not need to fill up in 30 seconds. Reduce it. Reduce basins, d/washers and the likes too.

People who say combis only do one tap at time are not in the real world.
