I'm thinking about putting one of these on to my boiler to help the heat exchange for the hot water but not to sure how to do is it easy to do ? Am i right in thinking it goes onto the cold water supply to the boiler?
Cheers
Paul

Do you have very hard water?
yes they go in the CW supply to the combi. Some combis in some areas can't live for more than 6 months without them!

i've had 3 heat exchangers for the hot water . i have now had the water in the heating system and tap water tested and one of the things that came up is the mains water is hard . I just want to get this sorted no fun washing in the sink?

Assuming it a plate type heat exchanger, were they changed due to the promary(boiler) side blocking or the secondary?
Usual problem is with the primary side because the system's got sludge (rusting radiators) in it. COmbigaurd won't affect that.
Scale doesn't usually bother plate hex's.

Yes they were changed because of the boiler side . I won't bother getting one then thanks . the report said "Orange water indicates oxidic corrosion and sludge formation " No offence to any one but i've given up on plumbers i'm going to try and sort this out myself the system was powerflushed 4 months before this report and nearly all of it says the water is poor . all the rads are about a year to two years old they are the column ones from b&q.

Orange is bad. That means recent and rapid corrosion. You might have a lot of soldering flux in the system making the water acidic.

Needs full and careful flushing, and a good inhibitor adding.

 Phone Kamco and ask them for advice.

I'm back - had to go - someone wanting advice he's paying for!
Yeh, orange is unusual after this long, and I've heard of it still happening after someone used normal system cleaning and inhibitor. In other words it needs neutralising, I imagine.
I'd do a lot of mains flushing so whatever's in there gets seriously diluted.
